Columbia clicks with Clarken

Columbia won impressively yesterday at Morphettville in the hit107 BM70 Handicap over 1200m.

He ran the 1200m in 1.10.18 which was the fastest run 1200m race of the day.

He started second favourite behind the heavily backed Fleeting Feeling who jumped straight to the front and dictated the race. Todd Pannell on Columbia allowed him to settle midrace, and found runs up along the fence to find the leader’s back on straightening. Peeling off the leader’s back, he had plenty of time to run down the heavily backed favourite down the long Morphettville straight to win comfortably by a length.

Columbia was transferred across to be trained by Will Clarken at Morphettville in August, and that move has paid dividends quickly. Columbia has settled in well to his new surroundings, enjoying his work, and has found a new lease of life attacking the line in his races.

His win looked like a horse that was capable of winning through the ranks in Adelaide, and he will continue to race through the late Spring & Summer periods.
