Soothsayer scored a tenacious win at Eagle Farm on Saturday knocking off a strong field of 3yos over the 1400m.
After his easy win last start over 1600m, the 1400m was expected to be too sharp for Soothsayer in early markets.
However with strong backing late, he was sent out a firm second favourite, and was given the run of the race one out one back by Boris Thornton.
At top of the straight he peeled out 3 wide to make his challenge, and as the favourite started to wobble, he took the lead and was tough right through to the finish, to win by a comfortable 0.8 lengths on the line.
His win confirmed himself as one of the leading chances in the upcoming 3yo Magic Millions Guineas over 1425m on January 14 at the Gold Coast.
