Soothsayer scored a fantastic win at Eagle Farm today, after a 3 year layoff due to injury.
The son of Divine Prophet improved his record to 18 starts for 6 wins, 4 placings and $467,875 in prizemoney.
Connections patience was rewarded as his class and liking for the Eagle Farm circuit was aided by a 10 out of a 10 ride by Ben Melham. The form around Soothsayer has been strong in his first two runs back and the stable felt he was back to his old stakes level ability.
Connections can dare to dream again with a long term goal for the 6yo being the G1 Stradbroke Handicap in 2027. The 1400m circuit at Eagle Farm being his ideal track and distance combination.
His time on the Soft 5 rated track over 1200m was comparable to the G2 Moreton Cup held on the same card. The overall time of 1.10.33 was faster by .42 secs which is approx 1 length faster. His last 400m 23.04 secs was equal to the Moreton Cup winner Uncommon James.
His win was only his third run back this prep, and he remains relatively fresh and the stable are keen to push onto the Listed $200K Eyeliner over 1350m at Ipswich on Saturday 20 June as a natural progression for the in form Soothsayer.
